Week 10... The quarter is coming to an end and this is our final Twitter entry. I thought the use of Twitter in our class was not only a creative way for classmates to be able to interact with each other despite having neither a physical classroom space nor Zoom meetings. Overall, it was incredibly well executed, engaging, and made a great learning aid of something I never realized could be used as an educational device!
This week, we were tasked with one final round of Tweets to summarize a few things that stuck with us throughout the class, and we were also asked to respond to several classmates. I wrote about how I realized that my writing style is even more important when it comes to an exercise in creative writing such as the scicomm article. But it also stressed just how important it was to write a strong narrative line in the article, making it more akin to a story than to a scientific journal.
We were also asked to follow five more accounts, but instead of focusing on our species of choice, we were instead asked to follow accounts which studied our field of study in our own respective colleges. In my case, this was the study of economics. I tried to find the account of Ha-Joon Chang, an economist I look up to, but it seemed he didn't have a Twitter. Instead, I followed an account which discussed his important contributions to the field and went on from there, putting the cap on the last round of Twitter activity.
