Hello again beautiful people! It's Week 9 and the end of the Spring Quarter is nearly upon us. I'll be just about halfway done with college after that. It's a bittersweet thought, though maybe more sweet than bitter.
This week, we were tasked with applying our newly honed abilities to research on the internet to Twitter. By making a number of posts concerning the problems that our species faces and solutions to said problems, we practiced our research skills. I, for example, focused on the moral and ethical concerns of cloning as I find the public perception of cloning to be a considerable obstacle in its advancement. I proposed that through campaigns of education on the subject, coupled with success stories of cloned animals could be a good way to turn public opinion around on the matter. However, I recognized the faults in these proposed solutions, noting that small sample sizes in the success stories could be an easy way to discredit them. I also pointed out that the ethical cons to cloning might not outweigh its potential benefits.
I found corresponding research articles and videos for these Tweets through Google Scholar.
This week we were also tasked with replying to several classmates, and my favorite Tweet from a peer was definitely this one, written by Shawn Lee.
The video attached was an interesting, novel way of addressing roadkill concerns with urban coyotes.
