Hello once again! Another week, another tour across Twitter. This week, we were tasked with writing three pairs of tweets. The first was to once again use the generative power of ChatGPT to come up two tweets talking about potential problems which our chosen species faces. Seeing as my article was centered around cloned dogs, I chose to instead focus my queries around cloned dogs, not just dogs in general. ChatGPT retorted with some pretty interesting ideas and I chose two to talk about in tweets.

  1. The moral and ethical dilemma surrounding the cloning of dogs... does it reduce their autonomy and status as "individuals?'

  2. The appallingly low "efficiency" rate of cloned animals leads to much complications in birth in many test subjects

Then, taking the topics of these two tweets, I took to Google Scholar to look for established sources for the next pair of Tweets, ones which would expand on the previous ideas using real world research and findings.

In my first Tweet, I cited Autumn Fiester's article, "Ethical Issues in Animal Cloning" to address the efficiency question. In it, I mentioned how the low rate of successful births should be addressed long before cloning ever becomes a widespread practice around the world, thus preventing unneeded suffering on the part of the dog surrogates.

In my second Tweet, I cited Elisabeth H. Ormandy's article "Genetic engineering of animals: Ethical issues, including welfare concerns." In this Tweet, I touched on the moral quandary of the implications of animal cloning and what it might mean for how we view the dynamics between ourselves and our animal companions.

To wrap it all up, the last two tweets were to be addressed to two separate research organizations which we were to find through Twitter. I chose Generation Pup and the Dog Cognition Lab for their interesting and frequent research into dog welfare and wellbeing.
